We are a church

Fribourg City Church is a growing Christian community in Fribourg, connected with the International Evangelical Church of Lausanne (IECL). We want to be a place where people from different cultures, generations, and backgrounds can meet God, build meaningful relationships, grow in faith, and find a place to belong. Our heart is to welcome everyone including  international residents, students, migrants, families, and anyone looking for a Christian community in Fribourg.

Fribourg is a diverse and international city. People come here from many countries, cultures, languages, and walks of life. We believe the church should reflect that diversity while remaining centred on Jesus Christ, Scripture, prayer, worship, and genuine community.

A word from IECL Leadership

At the International Evangelical Church of Lausanne (IECL), we are a community drawn from many nations and cultures united in Jesus Christ. In a world that often divides people, we believe the Gospel brings us together as one family. Our highest calling is to love God with all our heart, soul, and mind, and to love our neighbor as ourselves, and to live for the glory of God in every area of life. This love shapes the way we worship, study God’s Word, care for one another, and serve the city and nations around us. We long to be a place where the Scriptures are not only read and understood but lived out in daily practice. Our desire is that everyone who comes here, whether for a short season or for many years, will find a spiritual home where questions are welcomed, wounds are healed, faith is strengthened, and hope is renewed. My prayer is that each person who walks through our doors will discover the joy of knowing God’s love personally in Jesus Christ, and the courage to reflect that love to others. You are warmly welcome among us.

Senior Pastor IECL Dr. Levi Benjamin Moses

We are an intercultural couple and have been serving in English speaking churches for over 30 years, first in Geneva, then in Lausanne. Now we are also supporting this new church plant in Fribourg. An international church is like a microcosm. The different backgrounds of the participants display the fabulous diversity of the church, with the triune God holding it all together in unity. What a blessing!

More about Fribourg City Church

As Christians, We want to live and share this timeless Good News, the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We define ourselves in the way we relate to God, to each other, to the global church and those around us!

Doctrine – what we believe

    • God’s Word, as recorded in the Bible, is the highest authority for what we believe and how we live.

    • The person of Jesus Christ—His life, death on the cross, and resurrection—is central to our faith.

    • Those who trust in Jesus Christ as their personal Saviour receive God’s free gift of salvation.

    • The Holy Spirit, the third Person of the Trinity, lives and works in us, giving us spiritual gifts and producing spiritual fruit. Through the Holy Spirit, we are empowered to serve others and to develop an eternal relationship with God.

Worship – how we relate to God

  • “Giving worth to God” is an attitude that includes all areas of our lives.

  • We come to church to meet with God and to get to know him better

  • We do this through song, prayer and the preaching of the Word.

Fellowship – how we relate to each other

  • We are a church family that includes members of all ages

  • We encourage participation of all generations

  • We meet not only for the service, but share meals and our lives with each other.

Connectedness – how we relate to the Universal Church

  • We are part of IECL which is an independent church

  • We come from many nations and from a variety of church traditions.

  • Thus we are naturally connected to the global Church; but also through our members’ involvement in ministries and through prayer.

Reaching out – how we relate to those around us

  • Through personal relationships we encourage non-Christians to trust Jesus

  • We support and promote holistic mission work.

  • We encourage artistic expression and civic engagement
